How to create
a brand.

Not a course. Not a tutorial.
A working session — just you and the questions that matter.

Most people start with fonts and colours. That's why most brands feel hollow. This takes you through the thinking that should come first — in five deliberate steps — and hands you a brand brief that's entirely your own.

Defining your brand vision
Step 01

Brand
Vision

Before fonts and colours, you need a foundation. What you stand for determines everything that follows. Don't rush this — the answers here are the bones of your brand.

Your Brand Mission
Complete this sentence: "I help [who] achieve [what] through [how]."
Your Ideal Audience
Describe one specific person — your ideal reader, customer, or follower. Be uncomfortably specific.
Your Core Values
Select everything that your brand genuinely embodies. Be honest — not aspirational.
Accessible
Authentic
Bold
Community-minded
Creative
Educational
Empowering
Ethical
Inclusive
Innovative
Minimalist
Purpose-driven
Relatable
Strategic
Sustainable
Step 02

Brand
Voice

Your voice is how people experience you before they even meet you. It lives in every caption, email, and headline you write. Own it deliberately.

Tone of Voice
How should your brand come across? Choose up to 4 that feel most true.
Authoritative
Conversational
Direct
Empathetic

Nurturing

Refined
Trustworthy
Witty
Language Style
Describe how you actually write or talk. What words do you avoid? What phrases feel like you?
If your brand were a person...
Describe their personality in 2–3 sentences. This helps you stay consistent when writing.
Step 03

Visual
Identity

Now you earn the right to talk about fonts and colours. With your foundation defined, your visual choices should feel like conclusions — not guesses.

Logo Direction
What form does your brand identity take?
Logotype (text only)
Icon + wordmark
Monogram / lettermark
Emblem / badge
Abstract symbol
Typography Feel
Choose the typographic personality that fits your brand.

Monospaced / technical
Display / expressive
Colour Palette Direction
Choose a colour family that feels aligned to your brand's personality.

Step 04

Online
Presence

Your online persona is not decoration — it's a strategic vehicle. Where you show up, how often, and what you say there should all trace back to what you defined in Steps 1–3.

What is the primary function of your online home base?
Portfolio / Showcase
Blog / Content site
E-commerce / Shop
Service / Agency

Be honest — what do you actually enjoy creating? Consistency wins over the "right" format.
